About the Position:
A rapidly growing pet wellness manufacturing organization is seeking a Financial Controller (Cost Accounting) to strengthen and modernize its manufacturing finance function. This role supports operations producing supplements, soft chews, powders, and liquid formulations for the pet and veterinary industry.
Position Overview:
This is a hands-on controller position focused on cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing financial analysis. The role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys building processes, improving data quality, and partnering closely with operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and improve cost accounting and inventory processes
- Analyze actual, lot-level manufacturing costs
- Lead month-end close related to inventory and COGS
- Partner with operations to analyze variances and inefficiencies
- Build and enhance Excel-based financial models and reports
- Utilize Power BI or similar tools (preferred)
- Drive automation and process improvements
- Provide actionable insights to leadership
- Support and develop a growing accounting team
Required / Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Manufacturing accounting experience with inventory exposure
- Strong cost accounting background
- Advanced Excel skills
- Analytical mindset with ability to draw conclusions
- Comfort working with imperfect data
Nice to Have:
- Power BI or other data visualization tools
- Spanish language skills
- Experience growing into increased leadership responsibility
